BODY DOUBLING
Sometimes It's Easier With Someone There.
Body Doubling gives you a calm, supportive space to work on the things you need or want to get done.
During a 1:1 virtual session, a trained volunteer body doubling host stays present while you work independently, offering gentle structure and accountability without pressure or judgment.
You don't have to arrive motivated, organized, or ready with a perfect plan. Showing up is enough.
What Is Body Doubling?
Body doubling is a supportive practice where another person is present while you work on your own task.
Sometimes having someone there can make it easier to begin, stay connected to what you're doing, or return to a task when your attention wanders.
At Ladle, 1:1 Virtual Body Doubling is hosted by trained volunteers. Your host isn't there to complete the task, give advice, or coach you through it. They're there so you don't have to do it alone.
You Might Find This Helpful If...
Getting Started Is Hard
You know what you want or need to do, but getting yourself to begin feels like the hardest part.
Focus Comes and Goes
Having another person present helps you stay connected to what you're working on.
Everyday Tasks Feel Heavy
Administrative tasks, chores, creative work, schoolwork, or other responsibilities can feel easier with company.
You Want Support Without Pressure
You don't need someone to tell you what to do. You just want someone there while you do it.
Showing Up Is Enough.
You don't need to be productive every minute.
Some sessions may be focused. Some may start slowly. You might finish everything you planned, or you might simply make a little progress.
There's no right way to use this time.
What A Session Looks Like
ARRIVE
Meet your body doubling host and decide what you'd like to work on.
SETTLE IN
Choose the kind of presence that feels helpful, such as quiet focus or occasional check-ins.
WORK
Focus on your own task while your host stays present with you.
WRAP UP
Take a moment at the end to notice what you worked on and decide what comes next.
What Might We Work On?
Paperwork & Forms
Work on applications, forms, documents, or other paperwork you've been meaning to tackle.
Cleaning & Organizing
Tidy, sort, declutter, or work on a space while someone keeps you company.
Creative Projects
Write, draw, craft, make, or spend time on something creative.
Personal Projects
Make progress on something that matters to you, even if it doesn't fit neatly into another category.
Emails & Phone Tasks
Write emails, organize messages, prepare for calls, or take care of communication tasks.
School or Work Tasks
Focus on assignments, projects, administrative work, or other responsibilities.
Planning & Scheduling
Work on your calendar, make a plan, organize upcoming tasks, or figure out what comes next.
Whatever You've Been Putting Off
Bring the task that keeps getting moved to tomorrow. You don't need to explain why it's been hard to start.
Your task doesn’t have to look productive to anyone else. If it matters to you and can be worked on safely during a virtual session, it belongs here.
A Gentle Note
Body Doubling is a focused support space, not coaching, Resource Navigation, therapy, or task completion by your host.
Light conversation may happen, but your host's role is to provide supportive presence while you remain in charge of your task and how you use the session.
Pay What You Can
1:1 Virtual Body Doubling Begins at $0.
Cost shouldn’t determine whether you can access support. There is no income verification or proof of financial need, and what you contribute does not change the support you receive.
If you’d like to contribute, suggested amounts for 1:1 Virtual Body Doubling are:
$10 · $20 · $40
These are starting points, not minimums. You can contribute any amount that works for you.
Choose $0 whenever contributing would make it harder to meet your own needs.
