About the Event

📚 Welcome to the Banned Book Club!

Each month, we explore stories that have been banned or challenged—books that ignite important conversations and build community through reflection and discussion.

For September, we’re reading The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek by Kim Michele Richardson. Based on true stories from Depression-era Kentucky, this novel follows Cussy Mary Carter—a blue-skinned librarian delivering books by mule through the mountains. It’s a powerful celebration of literacy, resilience, and standing up for what’s right, despite efforts to silence it.

💬 What to Expect:

  • A supportive, inclusive conversation space

  • Optional discussion prompts shared in a private, online discussion space
